My History
I
wrote for the school paper when I was in high school and
studied creative writing in college, but didn't submit
anything for publication until I left the U.S. for six
months to travel with my husband and four young children.
Each week I sent a hand-printed piece to the daily newspaper
in Fort Collins, Colorado, and when I got home I compiled
the articles into something called "Europe with Four
Children Every Day."
After
completing a master's degree in Western American Literature
at Colorado State University, I began working for a local
paper, and later for a magazine, writing feature stories.
When I moved from Fort Collins to Greeley, Colorado, I
helped start a life-style magazine and served as editor
for several years.
During
a 15-year period when I worked with single teen parents
in Cheyenne, Wyoming, I continued to do freelance magazine
writing and began to write fiction for young people.
I've
been part of the Front Range Writers group for six years
and have benefited from their encouragement and friendship
and have learned a great deal from their astute comments.
